Save Money: Stay Single

Whether you’re a single man still living with the parents or a woman claiming to be independent, deep inside you know you can’t deny the fact that you dream of having that one special person to spend your time with.

As much as you may not want to admit it, most people long to find a life partner. For men, having a female around would be a great excuse to watch those chick-flicks that you've always wanted to watch undercover. And females, well there’d be someone to argue with, and take it, during that time of the month, and still get the satisfaction of him apologising to you.

And then you get those romantic meals at expensive restaurants, random gifts for no special occasion, and priceless compliments for "just because".

But being in a relationship isn’t always easy. What's worse, during this economical breakdown it's even more difficult to please someone with what you can just about afford.

Every time you eat out, go to the cinema, on holiday, anywhere, it’s usually one person paying. Although women are more independant in their lifestyles nowadays, including relationships, it's still the man who digs deep into his pocket to pay the bill.

He is usually expected to pay when she wants to go somewhere, and when he doesn’t feel like doing anything he's left splashing out on pricey flowers and a box of chocolates because "sorry" just isn’t enough.

If you’re in a relationship, then ask yourself, are your pockets empty because of your other half? If yes, then according to a survey, staying single is the key that can help lock up your cash.

A previous survey by Skipton Building Society revealed that 90 per cent of all men surveyed admitted that they would pass the option of getting involved in a relationship as a bid to steer clear of the major financial difficulties that a woman may have on their pocket.

Just under a 50 per cent of all single men admitted they were better off being single.

But what's the point in having so much cash stored away when there's no-one to spend it with?
